Pro guns. No guns. The answer to the question over "the one common denominator" in mass shootings is grief. Some are angry. Some are scared. Some are stunned. Some are overwhelmingly crushed. Some are in denial, at least for another day.
Jesus says, "Keep your lamps burning..." in this Sunday's text (Luke 12:35b). I think he means we illuminate not just life but the Creator of life.
Illuminate life. Light what is dark by listening to the angry and crying with those who grieve. And love. Dear people, love.
Keep your lamps burning means we keep on being who we are, each of us. And we are not manifestations of self but reflections of God who is love.
