Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God.... — John 13:3a NLT
Just like you, shopping opportunities now come to me since I have done more shopping online. For example, when I see new stuff that will help with the weekly vlogs I do, like a clip-on microphone and a tripod that may well be a small-scale walking robot, I keep wanting to buy what is being presented.
At least I want to buy it in the moment.
Then something changes. I look at my budget, at what is important and what is not important, then I realize I don't need the control I crave. Jesus has that. Jesus has all I need. In such a pivotal moment as this here in scripture, where Jesus knows who will betray him with a kiss yet washes Judas' feet in complete humility and servanthood, I know what we all know, that Jesus has all the authority we will ever need. This authority comes from the Father. Little robots? Eh. Nice. The mic? Hmm. Really nice, especially for this soft voice or when I walk in the winter woods and the snow crunches a bit too loudly under my moving feet.
About that mic, here's the thing. The clarity we all need does not come through something we can wear on our collars; our clarity comes from the Son of the Father who has authority over everything. Literally. Everything.
PRAYER: Jesus, I give you authority over everything, including me. Amen.
