As All Saints Day arrives Sunday, November 1, consider what you may not have considered before. You are (or can become) a saint.
"Whoa," some are immediately thing. "Right. Me, a saint."
Now hold on. Being a saint has nothing to do with our goodness. Rather, it has everything to do with Jesus’ mercy. And yes, you can—and you do—receive Jesus’ mercy. How? Let me share very briefly a true story of Charles Blondin (born Jean François Gravelet, 28 February 1824 – 22 February 1897). Blondin was a French tightrope walker and acrobado.
Blondin walked over a rope that spanned Niagara Falls in 1859. Crowds cheered when he reached the other side.
In front of the applause, he asked, "Do you believe I can walk across the falls on the tightrope without falling off?"
"Yes," many replied.
He smiled. "Then get into my barrow and I’ll take you across."
"You must be joking," came the reply.
He then proceeded to repeat this tremendous feat with a wheelbarrow (as pictured).
Following Jesus—receiving this company, convictions and his mercy—is no joke. It means getting into His wheelbarrow.
