The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:16, “Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day.”

The month of June in northeastern Pennsylvania is an excellent example of renewal. So much green life growing covers our sins of pollution and land and water abuse. In the face of the tremendous amount of plastic gadgetry the kids bring home where we touch and toss almost everything into the recycle bin far sooner than later, I believe in planet stewardship. Yet bigger than planet stewardship is our personal renewal to God the Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer.

And the best way to do this is to live and to die with what Paul shares. Here it is again. “Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day.”

This inner nature does not add burden to the soul each season; this inner nature brings the blessing that we can be so much less when we allow God within us to be so much more.

More Savior, less self? Let’s seriously take this. More hope, less hopelessness. Let’s take this seriously, too. Until Sunday, God Bless you—and amen.
