After the sun shines again
1 I love you, Lord;
you are my strength. — Psalm 18:1
Our family therapist introduced us to the snake breath. We shortened it to the s-breath. This breath is used when you’re angry. To release the anger, you make the ‘s’ sound and exhale.
It works.
For me, it works very well.
We all experience problems, pressures and pulls. We all have different ways of coping with and releasing the anger that comes with the goo of life. After the storm, the proverbial clouds will part. Sun shines again.
In hindsight of the difficulty that has passed, I hope you offer to God what David does here at the start of Psalm 18. He gives God his love. He also acknowledges God as his strength. He does this because he knows God loves him. As importantly, God strengthens him.
No one welcomes problems, pressures and pulls, but when they end—and they do end—I invite you to more intentionally shout out your praise to God for what God does not just generally for such beauty as the clouds, the sun, and other wonderful gifts. Also thank God for what God does specifically for you. This personal God of ours loves you. The personal God of ours strengthens you.
God even gives you the ability to do snake breaths. That’s something to be thankful for, too.
PRAYER: I love you, Lord. You are my strength. Amen.
