For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. — 2 Corinthians 4:6

We have all messed up the plan. Someone said bring 12. We brought 2. Someone said to meet at the Ferris Wheel at 2 and at a quarter after we stand at the Mini Cow Ride wondering how to get to the Ferris Wheel which is the tallest ride in the entire park.

God also knows us better than we think we know the layout of a theme park or carnival. When God said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” God let the light shine in (and from) our hearts, not our heads. God did this because of this simple and sometimes obvious truth: God doesn’t trust us with thinking about this light. God also shouldn’t trust us with creating, deliberating, and then executing a plan to share light into darkness.

Instead, we are to listen to and trust our hearts when it comes to this light. And how beautiful this is. Rather than THINK about this light into darkness; we are to FEEL this in our hearts so that this light by God’s plan—not our own—guides, restores, and heals.

Here is more truth. Each of us has thought too much (or not enough) and, as a result, we never made it to the Ferris Wheel (or wherever else we were to go). However, when do we listen to and follow our hearts? Ah, yes, we are gifted by God with light and, with this light, we gift others.

PRAYER:

Let there be light, dear Lord. Your light.

It is Yours in us to share.

Oh, and as summertime approaches, thank you for theme parks and carnivals, too.
