Dear Congregation,
What if we can’t screw up? Sure, on individual levels, we can (and have) made real messes of things, but, as I share in sermon point number one, God knows our weaknesses. He certainly knew Thomas’s. As with Thomas, the Perfecter of our faith works our weaknesses into wonders not for ourselves, but for (and in service of) our Savior.
I was asked about the word perfecter after worship today. Someone I deeply, truly admire and appreciate on so many levels wanted my thoughts on what, exactly, is meant by our Perfecter of faith. The conversation we had leads me back to the sermon because even when we screw up, the Perfecter we know, love, and follow works His plan into place. He did this with Peter. He did this with Thomas. He did with Saul/Paul. He is doing this with us.
