"Because dead people don't stand in front of us," may be an answer to his question, "Why are you frightened (Luke 24:38)?"
Luke 24 makes it all real. All of it. Everything. The Jesus that talked what was to come in his earthly ministry stands before us with what is: a body in full humanness that rose from death. A body showing nail holes in his hands and feet while at the same time showing holes in what we believe and how we practice that belief.
APPLICATION: Fear is not the absence of faith; it may likely be the first actualization of it. The suffering servant who asks for fish (verse 41) also asks us to fish inside ourselves for our call to suffer with and advocate for the marginalized, the voiceless, the broken and the unsaved.
Fear is not failure. It is fuel.
