“I quit!” We’ve thought or said these two words when the going is tough. Sometimes we need to stop or end the trouble. We ourselves don’t stop, however. If it’s a bad boss and a bad scene, for example, we may meet our former employer again under entirely different circumstances that are promising. What then? A new chapter to an old story begins. Regardless, we still move on with (or hopefully without) baggage, bruises or burns.
Scripture Sunday speaks to great expectations of what is to be. This new chapter is coming even if we carry old baggage, bruises or burns. 1 Peter shares that those in Christ have something so amazing coming that whatever hurdle or hardship comes our way is nothing but Christian character building for what is to come. What is to come is a future of salvation and bliss.
APPLICATION: You may need to quit something. Okay. Even if you stop, something else continues—and that’s you. Pick up what you can that is good, and what is good is your salvation in Christ Jesus. Live this today, especially when the going gets tough.
