I remember exactly where I was when I said, "God, I don't know who you are."
I'd just come back from Iowa for the second time empty-handed. It was the second week in December and my dream of becoming a father to a newborn son had closed. It ended. Five attempts. Five failures.
I share this because I believe the Servant Girl in 2 Kings 5, scripture we have Sunday, may have also wondered, "God, where are you?"
Her whole had turned upside down, and everything she knew and everyone she loved was gone and in her dismay and distress, like my dismay and distress, she just wondered.
In these times in all of our lives when we wonder, it is God who holds onto us when we can't hold onto God.
And her faith, however fragile it was, was strong enough to see that someone needed healing from the God that she knew. As a result of one healing, her life was made whole.
We may wonder where God is or who God is, and together Up A Stream with a Paddle (our sermon series this month), we'll find answers and wellness and hope.
Join us. And amen.
