Who sits in the pews around you? What are they holding? What are they hiding? Where are they suffering and where are they celebrating hallelujah moments?
Who sits in the pews around you? In scripture Sunday, we focus on two in the pews—the Pharisee and the tax collector, the proud and the pounded, the outspoken and one who can barely speak at all.
Much is said about these two in Luke 18:9-14, but, like them, there were others in the pew that day.
There are other in this—and other—sacred and holy places of prayer.
I invite you to pray with me now.
Dear Heavenly Father,
When we sit and pray, help us be mindful of those around us in their beautiful and broken moments. Help us so that when we look up and feel You, Your love comes through us.
Bless those who pray.
Amen.
