Before Jesus shares the parable of the mustard seed, he talks of types of soil where the seeds are planted. Some soil types are ideal. Some are far from ideal.

Having farmed on acres that grow rock—I mean the land literally seems to grow hearty, abundant rock—I have learned that you take what you have and add to it.

As we celebrate All Saints Day this Sunday, let’s take what we have. Here I am thinking of godly mentors who continue to cultivate our faith. These saints who have gone before us added what they needed to add. They tended to what needed to be tended to in our lives.

APPLICATION: Let’s do the same. Let’s look to God to help us grow faith in all kinds of places and in all kinds of soils. Let’s do this for all kinds of souls.
