Whoa, that’s weird

I was caught up to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell.  —2 Corinthians 12:4

This goes FAR beyond wondering what the neighbors will think. This is more like, “I don’t think I can share this with anyone. At all. Ever.”

Yet Paul, who writes that he has experienced things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, does just that—he tells us. In words. He doesn’t just make a ritualistic pact with the best of his besties who are sworn to secrecy after hearing his words; he shares his indescribable paradise experience with those who, for over two thousand years, have read his work here in 2 Corinthians.

When we experience paradise moments or experiences with our still speaking, still active, still creative and always creating God, we should take to heart to what Paul does. He speaks.

Push past the phrase, “words cannot express” and actually express as best as you can what we have experienced with God or from God. Yes, this may sound weird to some, this may even sound very weird to others, but if you ever say God has been marginalized in our society today, you are a part of the whole responsible for this silence.

Speak up. Speak out. Face what may potentially be an odd look from the person or the group you’re talking with.

Oh, and if you get an “Whoa, that’s weird!” comment, do what Paul did. Agree! It is weird. Specifically, it’s out of this world.

PRAYER: Lord, we cannot express in words our paradise moments with You. We’ll never get it right. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try, right? Amen.
